I’ll be honest this is a question that makes me sick to my core when someone ask me this question first thing over the phone, I feel as if someone has kicked me and my whole family in the stomach before they got to know us. Keep in mind if you are checking out every professional breeder and you believe most of them are a Puppy Mill, please don’t waste my time with a phone call or email because I won’t be able to convince you otherwise, I highly suggest that you need to find a breeder local to you and not a breeder that has to fly the puppy to you, that way you can meet your breeder and see all their puppies first hand. One observation I’ve made over the years is people with experience with having had dogs in their past, people that seem to have careers that require an education such as lawyers, doctors, nurses, people who are older with experience in life don’t seem to ask the question. I’ve asked myself why and I think it’s because they have confidence in themselves to make a rational judgment in our character by studying our website, taking the time to read our references and talking to myself on the phone. Trust me when I say this website was not made over night, it is the collection of ideas and our history in business which took several years to put together. I have put this website together to prove to you we are in business and we provide healthy and happy puppies to homes just like yours.
Who buys our puppies, 95 percent of the people who have bought a puppy probably make from $20,000 to $50,000 a year and work common jobs but I’ve found it amazing some of the people I’ve had the honor to meet and sold a puppy to, such as a lawyer that has worked for President Jimmy Carter, he and his wife have personally came and toured the kennels and were very impressed. An actor that has been in many commercials and television shows, he has been on Desperate House Wives a couple times, Preacher/Author in a very large church on the east coast and I’m honored to call him my personal friend, Author of a couple of marketing books, a singer from the Baldknobber Show in Branson, MO, an FBI agent, Police Officers, many people enlisted in the military (which I give my personal thanks to), several doctors and nurses, a secretary to a congressman in New York, an Opera singer in Chicago, I’ve sold a couple people puppies that work in the Pentagon, owners of a major furniture manufacturer, several airline attendants and their families have flown in to pick up their puppies as well as Pilots, several school teachers and the list goes on, and that’s just the people I remember off the top of my head.
I think one of the most fun sales I’ve ever been a part of was when a young boy about 21 called me while he was driving down Interstate 44 from Saint Louis on his way home from college break for Christmas and he was looking for a new puppy for his mother because their long time companion had past away but he needed to consult with his father but his father was a colonel in the U.S. Army and he was stationed in Iraqi. I emailed a couple of pictures of the puppies to the young man which he liked and wanted his father to see so I emailed them to his father in Iraqi which he emailed right back telling me which of the puppies he liked and by the time the young man made it back to his mothers home they had made a decision on which puppy they would like to surprise her with. There are not words to describe the feeling I had to be part of making that young mans dream come true that Christmas, which was simply to make his mother happy at Christmas.
Just recently I emailed all the clients on our email list that have bought puppies from us in the past and explained to them that this summer had been especially harder to make the bills and once again just like last summer I thanked everyone who sent their friends and family to us to buy their next puppy because without those sales we probably would not have stayed in business. I contributed the lack of sales to higher gas prices but mostly the lack of confidence people had in breeders thanks to all the negative publicity the Humane Society was spreading on shows like the Early Show and the Today Show and the show that Oprah aired about Puppy Mills. Most of the people I had emailed said they did not see the shows because they were working during the times the shows aired but had heard about them. For those reading this, keep in mind that the people that sent the emails back have bought puppies from us and this is what they had to say:
